There have been a ton of changes to Subspace, now called Autonomys, so I wanted to give a nice summary of the call with the major key points. If you want my take on them, make sure to watch my YouTube video (coming soon).
Rebranding and Vision
Subspace is rebranding to Autonomys (Pronounced au·ton·o·mous) to lead the transition to the age of AI.
The first product will be the Autonomous ID (Auto ID), a privacy-preserving decentralized identity protocol.
Auto ID enables secure verifiable identities for humans and AI agents, allowing for proof of personhood without invasive biometric scans.
The decentralized AI vertical stack of Autonomys includes distributed storage, distributed compute, and a DApp and agent layer integrated with the Auto ID protocol.
Autonomys Network and Decentralized Identity
AI is currently centralized, controlled by a few companies, and access can be shut off at any time.
Autonomys Network aims to decentralize the entire AI stack, including the model, training data, and inference.
Decentralized identity (Auto ID) is crucial to ensure that AI agents are controlled by their human creators and to prevent them from going rogue.
Autonomys Network is well-suited to handle decentralized identity due to its maximal decentralization, security, and scalability.
Stake Wars 2 and Testnet Rewards
Stake Wars 2 will be multi-domain, with a new Auto ID domain based on the Auto ID runtime.
Stake Wars 2 will run on Gemini 3 for 6 to 8 weeks, split across distinct phases.
Minimum stake is set to 100 TSSC on both Nova and the Auto ID domains.
A claim mechanism will be available on the block explorer for smaller farmers and validator crews to obtain the verified farmer role.
Testnet rewards, minted into the Genesis block, will appear as soon as the network launches.
The total percentage going to testnets is likely to be over 6% of the supply.
Updates and Announcements
The team is working towards launching mainnet live by Q3, known as Project Genesis, and is actively looking to fill key roles such as Head of Marketing and Head of Product.
Storage fee deposits have been introduced, and an amount of operator stake will be reserved for storage fees when they register.
Operators will need to sync their nodes from scratch on their chosen domain, which may take several days.
Operators can only run on a single domain at a time and will need to meet the minimum stake requirement for registration.
New verified operator and verified nominator roles will be introduced in the Astral wallet sidekick.
More information on the GPU plotter coming Monday on dev call
Operators can start two operators on both domains if they have two times M stake.
Operators will still be able to set minimum amounts of stake for them.
